Because of changes within the industry and the insurance companies’ decision to no longer compensate independent brokers for assisting consumers with stand-alone Part D plans, we’ve had to make some adjustments to the way we serve this need for you. Our priority remains the same: supporting our clients with excellent service. To best serve you at this time we have created step-by-step instructions and a handy guide so clients can learn how to successfully complete a Medicare Part D analysis.
Please be very careful when enrolling to choose the correct plan type (Medicare Part D) and do not accidentally enroll into a Medicare Advantage Plan (Medicare Part C). Also be cautious when the insurance companies call you that they are not trying to remove us as your broker or enroll you in other coverage as this sometimes happens.
We are still assisting with Medicare Supplement plans, Medicare Advantage (Part C) and other insurance products. We are just no longer completing the Medicare Part D Analysis for our clients (but we’re teaching you what we know!)
As a friendly reminder, the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is the time when Medicare beneficiaries can review their Medicare Part D (Prescription Drug Plans) and Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage Plans) for the upcoming year.
It’s important to note that the AEP does not apply to Medicare Supplement Plans. These plans can be changed at any time throughout the year. In fact, we typically recommend reviewing supplement plans in the spring, since our two largest carriers release their updated rates in April and June.
Note: Outside of your initial eligibility period, Medicare Supplement plans require medical underwriting. This means that to change insurance companies or plans, you will likely need to answer medical questions, and your eligibility and rate will be determined by your responses.
